Fundamentals of Implant Surgery

As implant rehabilitation has become widespread as a therapeutic modality for the treatment of our patients, our knowledge regarding surgical implant placement has flourished and improved significantly. Modern principles of implant supported rehabilitation are based on the synergy between prosthetic treatment planning and precise surgical interventions. Our team of surgeons at Seaforth Oral Surgery are proud to share their knowledge by presenting to clinicians the fundamental principles of implant surgery. A review of the steps in implant treatment planning will be presented, focusing on how to combine prosthetic information with the patient’s anatomy. We will expand on the most up to date techniques in implant and bone grafting surgery that yield repeatedly stable results. Enfin, participants will have the opportunity to perform implant placements on anatomical models during a hands-on session, thus allowing clinicians to familiarize themselves with certain particularities of implant surgery. This course not only allows dentists to meet the new training requirements established by the ODQ but also broaden their scope of knowledge in the development of comprehensive treatment plans for implant supported rehabilitation.
